CHAMPARAN RAIPUR CHHATTISGARH

Chamaparan

It is said that 1250 years ago where now is Champaran Dham in Chhattisgarh used to be thick forest .No one was dared to enter to these forests. it is a belief that this is where lord Shiva used to stay when lord Shiva wished to state his presence he made a cow as a medium .
The cow used to come daily to this jungle and discharge milk to lord Shiva lingam idol and go back to her place. And when the milk man use to take out milk from the cow nothing was left. One day the milk man got a doubt he followed the cow and saw her discharging milk on the idol.
The next day the milk man took the cow to the king and told him everything .slowly the news was in mouth of all the villagers and together the villagers with the help of the king constructed the temple and people from nearby places started coming to visit this temple

There are two temples dedicated to Shri Mahaprabhuji in Champaran. The first one is known as Prakatya Baithakji Mandir ,The second Baithakji is Mool Prakatya that is normally known as Chatti Baithak .
A small Stream of Mahanadi river flows near the temple which is believed to be from yamuna river and worshipped .Mahaprabhuji's Prakatya Utsav is celebrated every year on eleventh day of Baisakh and many of followers of the sect gather at the temple to pay homage .
The annual Fair of Champaran is held with great festivities in the month of Magh every year .Large number of pushtimargiya Vaishnavas visit Champaran every year .
